I’m the author of three novels, along with stories, essays, and book reviews in a number of journals and anthologies. I’m also founding editor of the webjournal Necessary Fiction, and Senior Lecturer/Writing Studies program director at Emerson College in Boston, MA where I teach first year writing, fiction workshops, and a study abroad program in travel writing.
Some things my students can reliably distract me by asking about include bears, mountains (especially the Dolomites), folklore, forests, snails, beachcombing, birds, coyotes, wild animals turning up in surprising places, and the saltmarsh in my neighborhood. All of which tend to show up in my writing, too.
Feel free to reach out by email, find me on Bluesky, or sign up for my thus far hypothetical newsletter if you’d like to be updated with future publications or other announcements.
